If you want a complete bolt on kit, go with the maggie. If you can put up with more headaches and fab work to get more power, go with the whipple. As far as I know, whipple still doesn't have any intercooler solution, so you have to fab your own. However, since the whipple doesn't sit in place of the intake like the maggie, when you do fab an ic assembly you won't have engine heat soaking into your ic. BTW, order the sc without their crap electronics. Just get tuning software and put in larger injectors for yourself.

I wouldn't debate any S/C manufacturer's idea of what a correct tune is, or how to achieve it. They vary from fair to crap. Get a "tuner" kit, bigger injectors, and have a pro set it up on the dyno.

The Magnacharger is a better kit for a dailey driven truck.I've run mine for 2 years now with no supercharger related issues.I actually like the twinscrew supercharger better, but the intercooler and attention to every detail in the Magnacharger kit make it a better overall package.

WHAT??????????????????????????

A Roots style is a PADDLE. And a twin screw is totally different. Then there's a centrifugal which is different again.

_________________________________
To the original poster. I have no idea how good each kit is.

However IMO and many others too, the Twin Screw compressor is the best you can get. KB and Whipple use basically the same unit. It's a Swedish company called Opcon. Lysholm I beleive are know owned by Opcon Autorotor as well (according to the website anyhow). Yet Lysholm have been building twin screw compressors under license from Opcon for many years anyhow.

Basically a Roots blower isn't nearly as bad as many think. If you use it in it's designed range it is pretty good and will offer lots of low end grunt. At higher rpms they do tend to drop of abit as the efficency of the blower is not as good. So typically psi levels will not remain stable and will dip in the higher rpms.

Hence they don't produce the biggest headline PEAK dyno numbers. Under the curve numbers are actually very good.

A Centrifugal blower is basically a belt driven turbo. They have to spin very fast to produce boost. A PD blower like a twin screw or roots will produce lots of boost in low rpm conditions. A Centrifugal will NOT. As engine rpms increase so does the boost. Centrifugal compressors are the most efficent and will produce the best PEAK numbers. However their under the graph stats will be comparitively weak, even compared to a Roots blower.

So if you want instant grunt roots is better, if you like WOT driving and want to be bouncing off the red line with maximum PEAK power then the centrifugal is a better bet.

EXCEPT:

That a twin screw unit, will produce the same low end grunt as a roots (not better, but certainly as good). And it will remain efficent at high engine rpms too. So it offers the best of both worlds. The low end roots style grunt and the high end centrifugal style PEAK power.

The centrifugal is still the most effiecent however and WILL on a like for like basis produce the highest PEAK numbers. But since when have PEAK numbers meant the fastest car/truck, espcially on the street. What you want is instantly accessable grunt no matter the gear or the rpms you are at. Only a twin screw can offer that.

A Twin Screw Compressor produces more power, more of the time than any of the other alternatives.

Roots = high boost to begin with which DECREASES as engine revs raise.
Centrifugal = low boost to begin with which INCREASES as engine revs raise.
Twin Screw = high boost to begin with which remains CONSTANT from idle to red line.

IMO for any street car:
1st choice - Twin Screw
2nd choice - Roots
3rd choice - Centrifugal

The quality of the available kits however is a totally different matter.

I've grown up around blown Top Fuel bikes, and I will tell you right now that a roots based blower does not TOUCH a twin screw in efficiency. Max potential a whipple will go a LOT futher then that mag will. You need to size properly though.

KB (twin screw) owner here. Go with a Whipple. Forget the Magnacharger.

My vette came with a Magnacharger and I love it. Although I'd definitely upgrade to a twin screw if the KB unit turns out to be good. I don't think Whipple is coming out with anything at all. They have that monster 3.3L blower for sandrails, but I don't know why they don't have anything for LS1 cars!

Earlier this year at the track, I saw a new Z06 with the magna run a 13.0 flat @ 119 MPH

Later a stock Z06 pulled up and went 12.2 @ 114 MPH

Hey now don't jump on me! I'm only reporting what I saw.
I know that all magna users aren't going to have such poor results.
Obviously neither Z06 owner could drive

I voted whipple.

It scares me just thinking about how much the Starr system would cost to get it here.

I HATE my Whipple!!!! Will never buy another one, thats for sure!! Customer service sucks!! Electronics suck!! No Intercooler!! Oh ya and customer service really sucks!!

There is no re-sale value for the whipple kits if you ever change your mind or want to up grade.

I had a Whipple Charger on my 03 silverado..

Best mod to date!!!

And you dont have to pay 4000 dolllars for it...

You can find them used everyday... for around 2000 dollars.... Injectors for 200.. Then your ready to go.....

I would buy the whole kit... You dont want the whipple electronics, there shitty....

I ran 8.5 lbs for around 6 months with NO problems....

You can always get a meth kit.... You dont neccesarly need the intercooler!!!

Just my opinion!!!

Although Magnacharger makes a GREAT kit... The price is Way to High for me...

STS would be the way to go if you are wanting to turbo charge.......

PM me and We can talk!!!

The kenne bell looks interesting. Especially how they have upgraded most of their kits to a newly designed blower. Most feature larger displacement and the intercooled kits for trucks are said to be coming soon.

KB makes a 2.6 which would be fun on a 6.0, but I think the Radix has plenty in it to support a 4.8.
