Default Vent Tube

I sent my head unit off to Vortech for a rebuild because I had oil in my intake track (leaky seal).. Kudo's to Vortech they decided to send me a brand new one for same price as the maintenance, including a new Idler pully. Since mine was one of the first ones made and "outdated". Any way I was wondering if any one has removed their vent tube from the intake track and is using a filter instead.. One of the reps at Vortech recommended this.. In my case I found absolutely no oil residue in the vent tube. But was wondering if this is a good or a bad idea..
