whats a cam worth?

whats a cam worth? i have alot of issues to work out before i am ready for a cam but i am allready thinking about it. how much power will a cam add to a positive displacement blower moter like mine? will it just add power on top, or everyware, or would i even have to lose a little on the botom to get some on the top?
what about idle? it would be nice to have a little lope but with this type of blower it sounds like a cam large enuff to lope would loose power. am i understanding this corectly, lope would come from more valve overlap and more valve overlap would cause me to lose power?
when i race it stays above 3k but when i tow it runs around 2k when it is locked up, if i am going to lose power at 2k then a cam may not be for me. unless i was to only lose a few hp and gained a bunch up top.

Re: whats a cam worth? I'll be honest here. I am sure there are good blower cams out there, but be conservative w/ the whipple. I am having issues with my cammed motor and the whipple. It pings way too much under light throttle at freeway speeds and shows KR all over the lower RPM range. Once I get it above 3000 RPMs, KR goes back down until 5500+. I have tried everything I can to get it right. I have removed a ton of timing w/ edit, but it makes little difference. I am just about ready to sell the SC, and go back to nitrous.
