Default Making my car faster

I've had my 1999 TA for 3 months now and have decided its time to try and make it faster. Friends have told about a variety of ways and was hoping to get someone's opinion who has made modifications to their car. Some of the options that have been told to me are: RAM air, super charger, new exhaust, a chip, etc. Are any of these better than others? Are any definatly bad?

First you gotta figure out what you want to accomplish and how much you are willing to spend

TAGirl, what part of Indiana are you from? Just curious. I am running nitrous right now on a all stock motor. I am planing on getting a turbo system. LS1 Motorsport made a complete turbo system for a 2001 TA with a M6 that churned out 535 RWHP and 687 RWTQ on 92 octane gas. Now that is a street machine. It cost about $6000 for the kit and $1200 to install. The nice thing about a turbo is that you don't give up driveability, gas mileage (unless you stomp on the gas alot), and you can easily ask for more or less power at anytime. You can also have an open exhaust and the car won't be too noisy.

think she could handle that much power?
not sure if i could handle it hehehe.

not quite sure if you want to make that much power.
maybe you should start out with a airlid, headers, catback exuast. if you want more try some heads and cam.
FI is a real pain to mess with, you always got to be messin with it.

Hey, I would give her some credit. I have met some women at the track that were racing their cars and did their own work on them. Besides, a turbo is the best bolton in my opinion. It gives the biggest bang for the buck. She can start on a low boost of 4-5psi and if she wants more just crank it up (with the proper programming.) Header, air lid, chip, underdrive pulleys, etc. only give marginal gains in my opinion. Heads, cam, and strokers take more money to install and the driveability and fuel mileage may suffer. One more thing, nothing sound more powerful that a turbone spinning up like a jet.
