cooling question i have some knock issues and i am not sure what to do about it. one easy thing i can do is swap out the radiator, in the cooler months my temp holds around 175deg, right now it floats around 180-195deg(atap numbers), i think i could put a large enuff radiator in my truck that i could keep it down to any temp i wanted, right now i have the stock 5.3 radiator, the 6.0radiator is about 6" wider and the desiel is just plain huge.
would it be worth the money to keep my temps down to 175? what about even cooler, i think with the desiel radiator i could keep this thing as cool as 160 if i wanted. would it help with detonation?

Re: cooling question Running the engine cooler will help with detonation, whether it's worth it depends on the cost and how much you want to spend, also are you running cooler spark plugs, if not you may want to try 2-3 steps cooler when running a whipple supercharger.

Re: cooling question The plugs are to cold when the engine develops a miss after running at idle or low speeds for a short time.
The spark plug tips do not get hot enough to stay clean, but with the whipple even at idle it should help keep the plugs hot.
