I was talking to some friends of mine who were at a local track and confirmed that a 3600lb (raceweight) GN with a 377CI smallblock ran a 9.55 with only 10PSI-12PSI Turbocharged setup. AND it was friggen HOT!
This was done on pump gas also. The GN is a friend of a friends car. I guess this sort of proves that with that with low boost we can still get some big HP out of the motor. I figure this guys was pushing some 1100 crank out of it.
So anyway....just thought I'd share the information to those folks who'd like to run lower boost numbers and still produce some big HP.

I will be posting some pics of my freinds GN with a twin turbo small block in it. Last year it went a 9.1 @ 152 with 20# of boost.This car is 3800 pounds.It's street manors are incredible it runs and drives as good or better than most 12 second cars.Last year with only 20# it made 1013 RWHP and that was thru a turbo 400,a gear vendors overdrive and a 9 inch ford.This year he upgraded from t66 turbos to t76s and now he will be running 28# of boost.All i can say is that at 14 pounds it pulls so hard that it will make you dizzy. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> .Last weekend we had a perty to raise money for my sons bone marrow transplant and i took some pictures so when i get home next week i will post them .Not only is it fast but it is a perfect show car.
almost forgot. he made a little over 700 RWHP on mobil 93

Well this guys next step is to crank to 17 PSI on 100 octane and see what she does.
What first attracted me to Turbos was its street manners. Quiet when you don't get crazy. My wifes complaint is that it's a bit too quiet. She liked NASCAR sound of the LS1. I just got sick of hearing the droning on the highway. Not to mention if I got on it at all the radios of every cop in the area started buzzing. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
My only shame is the fact that I'm turning my car into a drag only car with the Turbo 400. Course my RX-7 turbo is getting my old LS1 motor. That should be fun. <img border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" title="" src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" />

My turbo header builder has a shop out of his garage with a stage 2 motor and runs sick numbers like that. He started off one day off the trailer only checking the tire pressure ran a 9.7 spinning off the line with a 1.3 60' they told him to slow it down, lowers boost 5 psi to now 12psi. Runs a 9.6 at 148 with a 1.48 60' (forget first mph.) they tell him a little harsher to slow down (no liscence) he turns boost to 10 psi leaves off idle walks it to the 60' then stands on it. runs a 9.5 at 150 <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> with a 1.66 60'
Oh yea this was on a hurt motor <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> new motor is in it now <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />
oh yea full interior car with a/c heater power steering and braked <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

there is a local guy here, he ran a 9.1@150 with his v6 motor he upgraded to a dull race 392 v8, with tuning issues and low boost/timing hes already low 9s at 158 mph on and off the gas haha, when at 30 pounds full timing my guess is mid 7s at 180+ mph haha

Nick, I'm not sure how prepped the motor was. I know that it wasn't a high revving motor at all. I wa told it was a simple V8 small block chevy motor. I know it was FAST on it for fuel injection and engine management. I'll try to see what else it had under the hood today.
1. Was it a solid roller?

Sounds like one of bob reigers old motors then <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> if so i believe he ran 14 degree heads. Not too many twin turbo tube chassis trucks running around <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

Some kind of motor with sick heads and a nice cam. More than just a simple small block block.
I know awsome power can be made with little boost, even with "average parts", but that from the numbers , it sounds like this motor is more than just an average small block to run those numbers with so little boost.

The guy I'm talking about did it with Twin 66's.
The motor you show in the picture I have no clue about. The guy I'm talking about did it with a non-radical chevy small block. I'm still waiting for cam specs and details.

1. Brodix heads
2. Cam 266, 260 .620 lift and a 110 LSA
3. Solid Roller sounds like
