Default Calling Harlan...Turbo Question

Do you know what size are your turbos in your twin setup? What trim, A/R Ratio, turbine trim, and etc?

The stock Incon stage I and stage II are Garrett gt2535 turbos. The CHRA part number is 446179-0032. Harlan had his modified so hopefully he will post what has been changed from stock (probably exhaust housings).

Compressor wheel data (not sure on compressor housing dont have any yet): Compressor housing inlet diameter 2.75" outlet diameter 2.25"

Wheel Trim = 56
Wheel diameter = 2.09/2.80
Maximum compressor flow = 44 lb/m (each)

Turbine/housing data:
Turbine trim =76
Turbine housing A/R = .86
Turbine diameter = 1.85/2.12
Housing size corresponds to a T28 5 bolt design with integral wastegate

Hope that helps some, Gary

How does that compare to Turbonetic Turbos?

Gary beat me to it <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

That's them. I actually didn't have them modified. Just rebuilt. I was not comfortable with the amount of "wobble" that had developed in the bearings.

You gotta pick another turbo before we can compare <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Harlan, I had thought you were in the process upgrading to a larger turbine and housings. Since you were going for what 800 hp I think the t28 based turbine is a little small, but what the heck it will just have spin a littler fast and cut down on its life. So what do think wore the bearings out, my guess would be a little compressor slam?

Pick a turbonetics any turbonetics, actually they have some nice stuff. You can even get ball bearing turbos from them now and prices arent to bad.

That's the plan.

Push them for all thier worth <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

The guys that cored my old CHRA's had a few pairs from Lingenfelter that they were experimenting with at the time. Seeing how much wheel they could get in them. They said by the time i needed more they'd have a handle on it.

I know for sure i had sufficient oil supply, so my guess is too much abuse from compressor stall. They had a little more than normal axial play in the shaft, but alot of wobble as far as i was concerned. any is too much, and i wasn't about to send compressor wheel into my new motor.

If it comes to it, i may step up to a pair of t60's. Compressor housing is about the same size externally, but the exaust side more what i'm after.

but then again, the 2535's are just perfect for a certain truck i know and a t88 would fit nicely in the car.

decisions, decisions <img border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" title="" src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" />
