Default ? installing autometer gauges

I am installing my electric fuel pressure gauge and boost gauge in my 02 z06 and had a few questions. I want to wire them so that when I turn on the headlights the backlights in the gauges come on. I would prefer them to work with the dimmer if possible. Does anyone know which wire to run them off of in order to do this? Also is there a pre-existing hole for me to pass the wires through the firewall or will I have to drill one? If so any suggestions on where to drill the hole?
Thanks!

not sure about the hole, but in my 02 silverado .. behind the light dimmer, there is a lime green wire that I tapped off of for my Cobalt gauge. It illuminated the gauge with the headlights, and dimmed also.

I drilled a hole in the driver firewall behind the brake pedal under the carpet, used some touchup paint to prevent rust and put a rubber grommet in it to protect the wiring, and siliconed it closed after I ran the wiring. If you want to run over to the pass side there's an existing hole where the PCM wiring harness runs through the firewall.

I tapped into the stereo illum wire for the illum on the gauges.

I have AutoMeter Cobalt boost and trans temp gauges in the driver A/C vents.

Thanks for the replies. I am trying to figure out the illumination on a vette. I am afraid that if I tap the wire it will see too much of a draw. If anyone has any insite please advise me.
Thanks!

You can't just tap the existing dash light circuit. I will get back with more info. PM me if I forget.
