Default best compresion ratio?

i have a 6.0 with a whipple in my truck, so far the engine is stock at a listed 9.2-1 ratio. i am thinking about throwing some heads and a cam on there and figure i should put in some forged pistions and rod bolts while i am in there. should i try and lower my compresion ratio? any idea what the ideal ratio is? what are the benifits to lower ratio with more boost? i am guesing more power with less detonation but how much more.

my advice is to reduce compression ratio as much as possible from the piston. If you want 8.5:1, don't go 9:1 pistons and think heads and gaskets will do the rest, go all the way with pistons and put a normal gasket on it. I'd advise 8.5:1 is normally the best compromize. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Id go with about 9.0:1 but if you want to make huge power 8.5:1 would be good.
