blow off valve/bypass valve

Default blow off valve/bypass valve

where exactly does the thing go? and whats the difference between the two. i have a vortech on my car and want to put one on but whats the difference? which do i get?

you need a bypass valve. it goes on the pressure side after the blower. did you buy the vortec used? you probbly know this but get one on there before you go making boost. i got the standard ATI one and am about to upgrade to the vortec one myself.

i actually bought the car with the vortech charger on there already. i couldnt pass up the offer. but i have no knowledge about chargers. you said it goes on the pressure side of the charger?

Yes, It can go pretty much anywhere between the outlet of the supercharger and the throttle body. I have a D1 and a Vortec Mondo Bypass and it works great. I made the mistake of first buying a blow off valve. That was nothing but annoying.

so i replace the bypass with the plastic one(if that s what iti is, i have no clue) by my air filter?

lilbuddha,

I learned a lot from Corky Bell's book on supercharging/intercooling called "Supercharged". Any bookstore has it or can get it, or online at Amazon.com for like $18. Worth doing a little reading, even the basics, and maybe save $2000 or more. He talks about bypass valves with diagrams.

Even if you don't decide to work on it yourself, some knowledge will help prevent some shop from ripping you off.

I hope the project goes well.
