Default New Dyno Numbers

well..... both good news and sorta bad news.

first the bad news and a word of advice for fellow powerdyners. the way the iat sit's in the discharge tube is CRAP! I was still shooting water/alky and obviously air out the grommet (barely hit 5psi). I am jb cold welding that bastard up and relocating the iat elsewhere. the biggest side effect besides boost taking forever to build and probably not seeing all of it was watching a/f tank as the amount of air the maf read and the amount that made it into the engine became more and more drastically different.

the other subjective bad news is my peak number wasn't as high as I expected. I will be going back with the hole plugged up, a smooth intake tube and a clean air filter and hope to find another 10-15rwhp. I think I went way too whimpy on the cam to make big numbers.

good news is compared to my previous runs I picked up over 50rwhp and 45rwtq in areas under the curve. I did ask for a low end/mid range tq cam and the same for the way my heads were ported and thats what I got.

now for the numbers. 437hp 432tq. sae corrected.

oh and I also found out my previous number I have in my sig they gave me was uncorrected. doh! so my previous best was actually 396 I think it was. I will have all the graphs both prior on todays tommorrow. The disk they copied them to for me was bad.
seeing them overlayed is really cool as the difference in power down low is drastic.

personally I think the peak numbers are a bit low, but oh well. besides the above mentioned things I am not doing a thing more to the car so thats how it's gonna sit.

hopefully next time I hit 450 but if not no biggie. car pulls well, the power level is being handled by the z06 clutch and the rest of the drivetrain just fine, so I'm happy with that.

thats all for now.

Heath, I tapped my discharge tube for the iac sensor. It's pretty thick on the vortech though.I can't remember what size tap I used but it was either 1/4" or 3/8" NPT.
Then carefully twisted the sensor in and the threads in the aluminum discharge tube cut threads into the plastic iat sensor for a leak free fit.
Also the sensor itself needs to be sealed with some jb weld as it is not airtight.
Or you can buy a new sensor like used in the ati kits. It is metal and threaded.

One thing you said is making me comment.

</font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Remember you have a belt driven blower.
Your total potential airflow and therefore peak power is not determined by your heads or cam anymore but by the blower itself.
Using better flowing heads and cam with no change in blower speed will not show much gain. You will make about the same peak power with less boost though.
You could even put some massive ported c5r heads on and still not make more peak power. Infact the blower would be your restriction then.

Is there anyway to spin that blower a little faster? As that's the easist way to make more power.Even 5000 impeller rpm would make a nice difference in boost.
Taking my vortech from 43,000 impeller rpm to 62,000 rpm takes it from 5psi at 6000rpm to 11psi at 6000rpm.
I know about the internal belt issue but aren't they pretty cheap and easy to replace if you snap one?
Anyhow good numbers and I am sure you'll hit 450hp with only minor changes.
Steve

Interesting point Steve, I didn't realize it would be the blower holding me back. I guess I incorrectly assumed if it could add 100hp on a stock vehicle then if I add heads and cam and intake that would probably put me at about 360 NA then I should make 460 or even better with the blower.

It is sorta tempting to tempt fate and try a smaller pulley but armed with this information I think I would be satisfied with 450 now. Hopefully by doing the stuff I mention in my original post it will hit the magic number.

I really do like the fact the clutch is handling the setup perfectly so in the spirit of saving money I think enough is enough and if I decide I want to really wake up how the car feels I will slap in some 3.73's and call it a day.

Here is a comparo- For some reason the winpep viewer gives different numbers than the actual dyno's???? So it shows 434/433 not the 437/432 I saw on the screen. In any case here is the graph. Oh and I must have been on crack. It is more like 30rwhp and 45rwtq increases in places. Not 50rwhp. Sorry bout that. As you can see it did though pretty much avg 30hp/30tq increase accross the board. Will be interesting to see what gains I can achieve with a little tweak here and there next time. Probably about a month or so and we shall see.

Anyhow here is the dyno.

Looks good to me.
Well your looking for 16 hp for your magic number. A nice cold day will easily give you that <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
How bout slipping one of those new XB1A gear drive units and a smaller pulley in for about 10-12psi. bingo your at 575-600RWHP! <img border="0" alt="[devil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" />
Ok I am getting out of hand now... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

Cept that means new clutch and rear end for sure <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />
That would make my wallet <img border="0" alt="[whiner]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cry.gif" /> for sure.
