Supercharger & Wastegate??
Any reason you couldn't install a Wastegate on a SC setup between the head unit and the Throttle Body?
Just to limit top end boost if desired?
Probably not an optimal setup, but it could work, right?

Re: Supercharger & Wastegate??
A wastegate bypasses the turbine to control boost. Since a supercharger has no turbine, then you can't bypass air from it. So no, you could not put a wastegate on a supercharger.

Withya, but a Wastegate just bleeds air pressure, right? Couldn't you put one between the head unit and the throttle/intake and have it bleed off boost past a certain psi?

Re: Supercharger & Wastegate??
a wastgate is a turbine bypass valve. It's bleeding off exhaust pressure not air pressure, air pressure and a spring are what tell the waste gate when to start opening or closing. You could have a blow-off valve do what you are proposing though.

yes if you do it pre maf.
you do it post maf and your a/f will get whacked out because air that was seen at the maf would not make it to the engine

Withya. Good comment on the BOV.
You could set the BOV to limit boost also, eh?
Anyone ever seen the reason to do that to limit boost with a BOV? I know the idea is kinda whacked. Just wondering if there is ever a reason. Maybe just keeping the same pulley and having 2 settings. 93 vs 10x Race fuel or street vs. drag or something.

Re: Supercharger & Wastegate??
in one of my books I was reading they used a blow-off valve in front of the airflow sensor to control boost they put it in front of the sensor to make the car run richer.

Re: Supercharger & Wastegate??
Ive almost got my valve system done. I can do all kinds of cool stuff with it. 1) I can turn the air flow from the supercharger to the motor off and run on a different air filter. 2) I can run a really small pulley for killer low end boost and then when it gets to a preset point (got it programmed @ 7psi) it holds it there on the top end.
The whole thing is controlled with a switch (used a stock fog light switch in a empty stock opening). and i can set the boost pressure for WOT. Its got alot of electronics in it. the whole things is custom CNC machiened out of billet aluminum and its hard anodized orange.
Sorry guys no pics because i might patent it.
Its kind of a no brainer to have something like this on a daily driver car because the stock motor can take a supercharger for very long with out taking a major dump. I only turn my blower airflow on when i want to waste somebody.
