Default Small Oil leak on D1...

I was under the car today to check out the damage after I hit a piece of wood on the highway last night.

The piece of wood dinged my low sitting intercooler y pipe <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" />
Oh well its not going to hurt things but I will order a new one.

I did notice I had a small dribble of oil on the bottom of the headunit. Is this normal for the Self Contained headunits? I know this has nothing to do with the hit from the wood so I am not too worried.

When I filled the D1 I used the whole bottle of oil, was this too much? My dipstick showed it was full not over full. The drain plug is nice and tight as was the dipstick.
Thanks for the help(again)
Jeremy

PS how tight does the belt have to be? I am ready to crank down on it some more(belt should be broken in after 120 mi's)

TTT
I didn't find any oil on it today when checking it.
Has anyone noticed this on their headunit?

Belt tension anyone?
Has anyone tried to use the gatorback belt from Goodyear for our ATI's? I think I will try it out. Looks like it'll grip the pulley much better. I am only seeing 5psi at WOT. That sucks. The local autozone has em.

Can my LS6 intake, B1 Cam, MAC headers with off road Y pipe and SLP Loudmouth be hurting my boost level that much? I checked the backside of the pulley as recommended from another member and found no numbers. I can guess to say its the 3.4 or 3.2 pulley.

With my Powerdyne with the above set up was making 6psi non intercooled and 5psi with the ATI intercoolers.
at 5500ft above sea level. Belt slip wasn't a issue with this kit.
Thanks,

that small oil leak is normal , unless it forms a puddle overnight , then i would be worried. this is normal for a self contained unit. my blower hisses ( kinda like opening a soda can ) when i loosen the fill plug , which gives you an idea on how pressureized the inside is.

as for the amount of fluid, ATI told me to just pour in the whole bottle.

as for the belt , spray all of it with belt dressing, and tighten.
your boost should be low with all those mods , that is (sorta) good, since you are more efficent now, making more power with less boost.

good luck.

1dirtyZ- thanks for the reply, I was thinking I was all alone in this forum.
Its good to know that the oil drip is common. I was a little worried when I saw it and then cleaned it up and there was nothing on the headunit today.
I will do the belt tomorrow with belt dressing, just picked some up from autozone. Hopefully I will see the 9psi I wanted from this kit soon or back to the

i have heads/cam / headers and no cats and i have the 3.2 pulley, but the most i saw was 4.5 psi , but that 4.5 psi put down a whole lot more hp than you might think!

I hope I'll see more than that. With what its putting down now(5psi) it feels a little weak compared to the powerdyne(5psi) I had on it. I am gonna go do the belt now with dressing and tighten it down some more to see what happens.
Can't wait for this break in period to be over so I can get it to the dyno for a comparison between the two.
PD 428.8rwhp/461rwtq ATI D1 ?????
I hope my butt dyno is just a little off from not having a car to drive for 2.5 months
Thanks Dirty

7psi on the Gauge <img border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" title="" src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" />
This after tightening the belt tight enough that I "plucked" the belt with my finger and it made a hum. It has about alittle less then .5in deflection now. I also followed 1dirtyZ advice and sprayed belt dressing on the belt and let it dry. Took it on the freeway (crappy rush hour traffic) and punched it from 65 and got 7psi instantly and held it until 5500 when I let off.
Does it have more psi until the new lower redline of 6300? will find that out when I have a good open patch of road to test it out on.
Butt dyno was impressed, feels a lot stronger and keeps pulling like a raped ape. I guess the belt was slipping real bad before.

As of recently my head unit leaks all over the place. It just started happening out of nowhere. I hate cars. Does any one know how much a rebuilt kit goes for, or if you have to send it in, how much it costs for a rebuild.

Blownmaro
that sucks to hear, Prolly have to send it back to ATI for a rebuild, hopefully they will cover it under warranty.Call their tech or email cary @ cpangrac@procharger.com to see what he says.

I hope they aren't like powerdyne, it kept getting more expensive each time I sent it in. 1st Free, 2nd $85, 3rd $150 I had to pay for shipping each way too

1DirtyZ said pressure really builds up in these headunits, I wonder if there is a way to vent that pressure out, like a small valve that goes in place of the dipstick.
Our rear diff's have little one way vents for this reason too.
