New kind of Hybrid I just got the new Pop Sci and they have short article about a new VW Hybrid....Supercharged and Turbocharged! Starts out on the Supercharger and then once exhaust pressure is built switches over to the turbo, pretty slick little setup. It has a diagram in the article that shows the routing of the plumbing and valving mechanisms that switch it back and forth. I think it is primarily aimed at increased milage though but Im sure someone will have one in the 9's in no time

Back in the late 1980s, I met a guy with a Porsche 911 Turbo that had nitrous added to the stock turbo. The lag on those cars was legendary, so he rigged his nitrous to hit right off of idle and back off once the turbo hit 7-8 pounds of boost. I rode in the thing and the system really worked.

Well, this system is going into production in Germany so this isnt a custom system or anything and Im sure it will have a standard warranty too. Its nice to see FI innovations on that level where millions have to be commited to make a system like that reliable enough for everyday drivers. Me personally I think every car should be a turbo or supercharged car! Cant wait to see the new 600hp S/C Z06 that was tested at Nuremburgring
