How to build a good FI foundation?
I was reading PSJ's thread about how to build a realy strong FI motor and it was really interesting. But I have to admit some of the stuff was a little over my head.
I myself just got the ATI D1SC tuner kit, LS1 Edit, ATAP, and all the FI goodies a beginner will need. I'm not even looking for 700RWHP(yet). The D1SC will probably put me in the mid 400s. So I think 500 RWHP with stock bottom end is not an unreasonable goal, don't you?
At first I'm just trying to figure out how to tune this monster and figure out the FI basics. How did you guys get started? Some of you seem like you have been around cars all your life and this stuff is just second nature. But I'm new to it all and was wondering if you guys had suggestions on the best way to learn the tuning and modding prcess for me to build a good, safe, long lasting FI LS1?
Thanks fellas,
Mike

But had been into cars since 1977. I put it on my then brand new 85' 5.0.
That was a real learning experience for me.It was a carb blow through Paxton system.Lot's of bugs but it made some pretty good power way back then.
Then got into n20 for a while.
Then got back into blowers with my then new 93' 5.0. A vr4 race only paxton unit, 15psi kit.
Then got back into n20 again, lol
Then blah blah a few cars and a n20 injected small block Chevy jet boat later got the 98 TA.
Said I would leave it alone and not hotrod it. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
Put the bottle on it a few months later and for my 40th B-day my Wife got me a Vortech for the 98.
So back to blowers again <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
Read what others are doing and sift through the B.S.
Go slow and try not to get in over your head by going with a lot of boost until you are ready or it gets frustrating and very expensive.
Most of what I have learned has all been the hard way with a lot of broken parts over the years.
Good luck.
Steve
I'm really psyched to get the blower in and start playing with it. The car becomes the teacher, and the street is the classroom. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
