Should I plan to use belt dressing for my SC right off the bat? Only if I have problems? Is it always good to use it? What are the downsides?
Just soak the belt before install and let it dry? What's a good brand?

It wil decrease the life of your belt, but you'll still get a year or two out of it. We use VHT Track Bite on ours, it works wonders.

Thx! After it dries is the belt a mess or not really? Will pick some up for my mechanic. Any auto parts store?

I used it on my belt when I installed the sc. Not sure if it's keeping the belt from slipping, but I am only getting about 4-5 of my "8" pounds o boost. Doesn't seem to leave a mess, it's a lot like wd40. STP can at autozone for like 5 bucks.

After my belt-slipping fiasco, I followed 1DirtyZ's advice and sprayed the belt, then let it dry before I put it back on. True enough, I picked up 1 or 2 more pounds, and it seemed consistent. But, I haven't tried to run it at the track or anything.
I'm going to get my fueling right and sqare away some more things before I put boost to it.
I think I am going to go with the 55# injectors. It may take a little while, though. I want to try Mike Morgan's pulley... and I need to get the tension off my tranny's tailshaft. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="gr_sad.gif" />
I had to get them to order it, but I did get some gatorback poly-v's. I'm going back to the 4.10 pulley, but will be interested to see if I get an # or 2 more out of that (was getting only 3 or 4 PSI from the 4.10" pulley with this combo).
I'm hoping hte 4.10" pulley and the 7.875" crank pulley will bring me back to between a solid 8 to 10 PSI. THAT's when this thing starts to rock!

Sounds silly but.. do you spray it, let it dry, then install the belt? Or is it messy and it's best to spray the belt after it's installed already?

he can says to spray it while the belt is on then run the motor so it spreads the stuff around evenly. But I can't say I see a problem with spraying it while it's off the car.

When we used the VHT, we just brushed it on the belt when it was off the car, with one of those cheap sponge brushes from Home Depot, for spreading stain, anyway, we brushed it on the belt, carefully, because unfortunately VHT is sticky and messy, hence he reason it works on your tires and traction also, but then we let it dry for about 5/10 minutes, and then placed it on, and voila, it might sray a little, if you coat it too much, so be sparingly withit, don't coat it heavy.

BIGBOS: Not sure yet. I just got a new, smaller belt yesterday that I might get around to putting on today. I don't think there's any leaks either. Personally, I think the pulley is wrong. ATI shipped it with the 4" pulley and I called to check and they said it was right. I just haven't seen anybody ever talking about a 4" pulley before.
