A few newbie FI question
I just have a few questions for you all regarding my blower setup.
Just for reference, car setup is as follows:
2000 Camaro Z28
P1SC on 6 lbs
255 lph fuel pump
cutout
!skip shift, etc
stock everything else... street tires
First question:
There are LOTS of mods I could do to my car to gain lots of power. At this point, what would be most cost effective? As with most anyone, money is an issue. What mods would yield the best gains and be fairly inexpensive? I would love to do headers, cam, etc., but I can't afford any of that at this point.
Second question:
What is a good limit for boost on the stock motor? I granny this car ALL THE TIME unless I'm at the track. The car NEVER sees boost unless I'm at the track. Even on the highway I stay in the vacuum. But when I go to the track, I run it hard. Last time I was there I made 20 passes. (Was running 12.4's with 1.9's on street tires.) I've heard 8 is the limit. But is 8 pounds considered safe? Or is that pushing it?
I should throw in that I'm not planning on making this a drag car- next year I'm going to start doing more autocrossing and hopefully get into road-racing. Going straight for 12 seconds is only so much fun.
As for boost 8-9 psi or close to 550rwhp is about the limit for stock pistons. It will also depend on how you treat it as well, just like anything else.
Start thinking about forged internals, for your drag needs.
and
The rear wont with stand the beating at track, time for the 12bolt...
