Default What exhaust are you FI guys running?

I might be looking to change my borla exhaust with something alittle more quiet. I have a FLP's and a Vig3600 and the borla is getting loud, but it's too quiet capped up. I'm installing my ATI kit soon and i'm trying to get peoples opinion on what exhaust flows great but is not loud.

Even though my blower isn't installed yet, I have a Whisper Aggressor Catback. Sounds mean, but not too loud. I installed an electric cutout to the mix and it couldn't be more perfect. Volume when I want, quiet when I need it, power all the time

Its heavy but a Mufflex 4in on a blown application is a great idea,Blown setups like to breath.I'd get Mufflex to make u a setup using one of Dynomax's SS Ultra flow SS mufflers. They flow killer CFM and are very quiet...

JS,

It's funny you brought up Dynomax, I emailed them about my setup and they recommended the 17536 muffler which is 3" in and dual 3" out. But i'll have to check out the 4" system. Thanks Joel.

I'm running the FLP's, through ORP's, then through an SLP dual-dual, it sounds great...

I'm running the Mac Headers, offroad Y pipe, back to a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler. Its got a nice idle sound but is very much on the quiet side. It was actually a little quieter than I wanted but I'm very happy with it. When you look into the muffler you can see right out the other side so there is not much for restriction. I also have the cutout just in case I want to be annoying. Now that I think of it I dont think either of those are in my sig. Hmmm...

When I run the Y-pipe with cats, the sound is about right. Does the muffler you use with the ORP cut out that raspiness?

I was actually thinking of using a Dynomax as a resonator before the muffler, but don't want TWO mufflers if one will do the trick. Thanks!

I'm running SLP headers and Loudmouth. At full throttle it is ungodly loud. People have told me it sounds like a heard of jap sportbikes going by. It's also sounds terrible at full throttle, OK at part throttle.

Well after doing some sole searching i came up with this possible exhaust. It's Dynomax's 3" system, but use the Ultra Flow muffler p/n:17536. It's a 3" inlet with dual 3" outlets. It's not a kit so i would need to order the parts separately. But Dynomax claims this muffler flows 1000 cfm. Here are the parts numbers if anyone is thinking of trying this setup.

Intermediate pipe # 54064
Over Axle pipe # 53061
Muffler # 17536
RH pipe # 53062
LH pipe # 53063
LH pipe adapter # 41970
4 three inch clamps
1 2.75 inch clamp
I'm gonna call NAPA and see what the total cost is for these parts. I know it's not stainless, which bugs me alittle, but i change exhaust systems more than i care to count

Hey Mike how's it going? Good hearing from you again. Yeah i'm leaving my options open i guess. I have a SLP dual/dual from a 2000 Firehawk, but with the heads/cam and blower i'm gonna need a serious exhaust. The Borla flows good, but it's just too quiet capped up, but alittle loud uncapped. I'm gonna use the Walbro intank pump and cut the floor to install it like you did. Which pump are you using? I was looking at the Walbro 340. Take care, and get back down to south jersey sometime.

BIGBOS,

Does your SLP exhaust have the flat spot on the over axle pipe?

yup those are the parts I have. cept I just did the I, over the axle, and muffler then had the muffler shop do the muffler to the existing tips I had.

relatively cheap and effective.

I have dynomax you mention.

I like it.

No droan not superquiet. I actually wanted quieter but based on your comments the volume may be what you want.

you can buy the I-pipe, over the axle pipe, and muffler from summit for under $200

BlackLS1TA- I know the rasp you're talking about and no, my dynomax doesnt cancel it out. Everybody says one of those borla bullit mufflers in the intermediate pipe does a good job on the rasp. I'm going to try that. Anybody know how much those cost? Also if that 4" mufflex exhaust is not extremely loud I'd like to get it. Loud at WOT is good but not at idle or cruising. I already have a gay ford that's too loud.

Stock exhaust manifolds, stock cats, Hooker cat-back. Makes 462rwhp on 91 octane tune...

On my 496 BBC running dual 3" exhaust with Dynomax Ultra Flow mufflers, no cats, it was WAY too loud for my tastes. Make sure you like the noise before you spend the dough. I'm going to install the turbo mufflers hoping to quiet the exhaust.

On my TA, I run the Magnaflow with cats and stock exhaust manifolds and it sounds pretty nice and flows well. When I dyno'd un-capped, I actually lost 1hp.

Thanks everyone for your input. I've got plenty of time to change systems or just keep the Borla.
