Default Another big cube blower car is up and running.

Well I fired her up for the first time today with the 418. I previously had the stroker crank with a stock bore (382). It is amazing how different this engine feels. I love torque and I've finally got it. It revs so quick and with so much more axle twisting power. Its finally feels like I'm close to where i have been trying to be. The PY3400E converter is different too. Instead of being mushy like most higher stall converters, it lets it slip to a point and then its like it hits a wall and feels like it locks up with the car deep into its power and torque band. Almost like a stick if you hold it in first gear at 4000 rpm and then nail it. I still have some issues to work out. It is misfiring at low rpm's on left bank. It may be a pushrod length issue. The guy that did my heads actually made the intake and exhaust valve heigth about .025 off so I have .025 shorter pushrods on the exhaust valves. I may have to see if I still might have to play with pushrod length. I still have to shoot a new program into the computer (tonight) I still have the 382 program in there. The car is close to as quiet as stock so I might just have to go with the S-trim SQ. It seems like the G-trim can hardly make any boost at all with this big high flowing motor (I could only get it up to zero but it would just break loose because of the rain) . I wish they made a quiet T-trim. I'll have to talk to Vortech about what kind of boost an S-trim could make with this motor. I would really like to see 10. I sure wish it would dry up around here now.

I know what you mean about the lack of boost, a lot of G-Trim / ported heads guys are running into that issue. Is anyone running an S Trim on an LS1 Fbody? I know RMCR has the T trim kits out and there was a post on here last week about the YS trim, but haven't seen anyone running a quiet S trim...

Thanks, I got the mis-fire worked out. I put the .025 shorter pushrods on the left bank intake valves. So shes runnin' good now. Now I need to get my boost back.
