Default Turbo sizing

Alright, I need help in selecting my turbos to have a decent spool up with little lag, while being able to run 20-22 psi, after the intercooler. Engine will be C5R headed 427ci stroker. I think that a set of HKS GT2835 ball bearing turbos will work fine with the size of the engine while not heating up the compressed air to much. The intercooler will cause a 2-3 psi drop, but a huge difference in temps. Header tubing size is also a concern. I am thinging that a 1 3/4 will be able to flow enough air. What do you think? Also what wastegates and blowoff valves should a guy run? They need to be adjustable between 6 and 25 psi. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

how much horsepower do you want and how much boost do you wanna run to be able to get it? Also what kinda RPM range do you want?

you need to answer those questions and then call up innovative, PTE, turbonetics, limit engineering and ask their advice

Two GT2835 would be a little on the small size since they only support about 440 horsepower (flywheel) each maximum and wont push a lot of pressure anyway. You don't really state horsepower (lb/min) goals, efficiency, etc so the boost numbers are meaningless.

Two T04Bs (or larger) would give you more room (500-550 each) to grow and are a lot cheaper and plus you wont have to have custom compressor and turbine housing fabricated. Although its easy enough to modifiy standard Garrett housings (T03, T04b etc) to fit the GT series cartridges.

Of course a good single turbo will be just efficient (or slightly better) if it size right.

So come back with the desired flow at what pressure and your requirements for compressor efficiency and then sizing can start.

I am looking for 800+ rwhp, but I want to keep the revs below 6500 rpm. Boost will run at 22 psi max, but will usually be ran at 8 psi for street driving.

Gary is right on the money...the 2835s will not be optimal for your setup. Take a look at the compressor maps and you will see where they fall short.

They will meet your requirements for street driving, but NOT for your track goals.

Take a look at some of the turbos that PTE offers, pair a few of them up and you will have plenty of room to grow.
