ATI -D1 or Vortech ? Which one is better?

Just like it says. which has fewer problems? I've seen posts about both having problems. Need info gonna buy one in 2-3 weeks.

They both have there +'s and -'s your going to have to choose one. 0 Do a search as this subject has been discussed before. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I have a polished Vortech with 6lb and 9lb pulleys and aftercooler for sale, I put 500 miles on it, it was on a showcar. Let me know if interested.

I have had a Vortech S-Trim on my car since 1996 with 26k miles now I have 76k miles and no problems yet. I have heard that Vortechs are more reliable but you can get more power out of an ATI <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

The ATI system was rated more efficient than a turbo. With the D1 you are more than likely going to have to go with the cog belt system due to the capabilities of that charger. The Vortech's are nice but i would rather have a ATI coming from an owner of one. My friend with a 97 Z had problems with his and they replaced it for free. Since then he has had no problems with it for 2 years now and it seems to be working well. I guess it all depends on how much $$$ you want to spend.

The cogs are expensive, thats what I plan on doing when I got the extra money around and want to crank up the boost to high levels w/out torqing down the belts.....

an 8 ribbed setup on a D-1 will do just fine, thats what I plan on doing w/mine...scott ws6 also has this setup w/his f-1 blower...

I had 8-rib pulleys on my ARE 370ci heads/cam D-1 combo and when driven hard would shred belts like crazy <img border="0" alt="[bang head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" /> Car went 10.91@126.85 great power if you could get a belt to stay together.The longest a belt lasted was 4 passes avg.was 2. <img border="0" alt="[bang head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" /> There is nothing like changing belts on your back at the track every 2 passes or doing a money race and pulling someone hard until the belt breaks at 1000ft mark <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> Just my 2 pennies I hope you guys have better results than me,I sold mine.
