Default Update on Dragula's Vortech YS Trim conversion

Just a brief update for the supercharger fans out there...

-Vortech YS trim is on it's way!
-8" crank pulley with the ati balancer on it's way!
-3.12 blower pulley on it's way!
-Shooting for 20 lbs of boost!
-Picked up low use Weldon 2025 pump!
-Chris Sikora of Sikora Precision will make the 3 core intercooler for the car. It will be air to water.
-I need injectors! Torn between Siemens and Delphi 83's, how come folks are so divided on these injectors!
-The .005 over 346ci LS6 longblock is shaping I am behind but the motor should be done by early April and in the car! Car has 6.0 FI heads.
-Worst case doing a FAST to control things but hopefully this other box will work out!

Hey John,

The 'other' box wouldn't be from down under, would it?

Thanks,

Scott

Awesome!

You better not beat me getting my S-Trim installed. This stuff takes forever.. If I could just get my mechanic to stop smoking weed! 1 J every 2-3 hours... arghhh.

Doing stereo work right now. LOL I need a 2nd car.

Sounds like you are about to pave the way for us.. After I see more SC'd cars running 12lbs plus boost and not having issues.. I am right behind you..

I cant see the other box being as good as my FAST system. Does it have a wide band? Im running 83's and the tuning with the FAST is easy. I cant see trying to to a cheaper route with that kind of set up john. the fast system would be worth it.

How well that air to water intercooler hold up for daily driving?

Keep us posted with the updates John!

Not sure what the new box is capable of, let's not speculate on the manufacturer since I don't even know who that is at this time, but I have seen a lot of info about this box.

This box might have everything built in that we would need:
-low impedance drivers
-uses factory crank signal
-provisions for wideband
-provisions for 2 and 3 map sensors

Pro Stock John -

You are going to run 20 lbs on the aluminum bottom end? Not afraid of heads lifting off the block?

I'm afraid all right, but that's the fun part.

Research into all the forced induction motors out there and the LS1/LS6 is actually pretty well constructed.

There could come a time when I tell y'all that I think I need copper head gaskets or 1/2 head studs but I want to find the limit first and I think it will take more over a year to get there.

I'm having a friend who is a veteran Renegade NMRA racer help with the tuning and the configuration of the car.

Harlan's idea to run a 112LSA at higher boost to bleed off lower end cylinder pressure may have merit.

You starting with standard head studs?

PSJ, you are going to run headstuds and good gaskets right?
Cheers,
Chris

ARP main studs, and I am planning to buy a set of Dave's H11 head studs once I can get data on those and the standard ARP head studs.

I can't really comment on Harlan's camshaft, except that the reverse split duration he has is good for turbos. Only potential downwise is that his 112lsa might help out mid range but hurt top end, but we would have to see.

I bet those 110 lsa turbo cams have huge duration what are the total cam specs.

I looked at running a 240/244//115 cam from Comp but Allan from FMS and I feel that cam will will need to be shifted at 7700.

Nothing about my longblock is radical. I am doing a longblock with all good parts, a big blower, and fuel setup that regularly goes 148-155mph in NMRA Renegade cars.

John, with 20lbs of boost I would look at some old school small ford setups.Biggest head studs you can fit, o-ring the heads and block and run lockwire gaskets. The 4 bolts per cylinder require you to do everything possible to keep the heads in place. Also the fuel has got to be right. Any detonation and its over.
