Default 6 liter questions

Hey there.

I'm going to build a motor for boost, and I had some questions.

I'm not going for insane horsepower, 600rwhp will be plenty. I think I can do this with 15 psi on a ATI D1SC. Will I have problems if i use the stock aluminum block with forged internals? Will I have issues with head lift? Anyway to prevent this? I might be able to make 600rwhp w/o running 15psi... maybe 12.

If so, I might just do the 6 liter block. Will my 5.7L crank fit in there? Can I move everything over? Oil pump, oil pan, etc? What will I need new to work with the 6.0?

How many cubic inch is the 6.0?

What will my compression be with 6.0 heads unmilled? 9.4?

Where can I get empty 6.0 heads, and an empty 6.0 block?

Thanks

Yes, everything should swap over just fine. Depending on your pistons, the stock CR is, I think, 9.4:1. You can get a brand new block from SDPC for about $750 shipped. I have a brand new untouched 6.0 block and a set of used 6.0 heads I was going to use for a project that is taking the back seat for now. If you're interested let me know. I paid $1300 total for both, shipping included. I know I probably won't get it all back but, I don't want to lose much either.

Those parts will easily sell in Chicago if you post them...

The 6.0 crank is the same as the 5.7... 3.622.

I think the motor works out to being like a 358? I forget.

isn't a big block, a big block, not just displacement size.

Didn't GM make a 400 small block in the past.

yup slow is right , a big block referes to the physical outside dimentions of the block.
gm did make a 400 small block as well as a 400 big block ( if i remeber correctly).

now if you're going to get forged internals , why not spend the extra green and get a forged stroker crank just ot make things a bit more fun???

The big-block 400 was just a 396 bored out a bit (402ci to be exact) in '70 or '71, was done to reduce emissions if I recall correctly.

I doubt you can run 15lbs with ati.I couldnt get a belt to last more than 4 passes with 8-rib and 10psi.Until someone develops a cog drive or something else for high boost setups your limited to about 10psi.
