This is my biggest pet peeve on these boards.

It's a credibility issue.

Why would I take someone’s advice concerning my turbocharged setup when I can’t read through a single sentence without cringing?

Hmmm, did you not read my post about how if people misspell terms these threads don't show up in a search?

The search function is very very very popular.

I'm sorry you have an inferiority complex but I'm glad that some of our members pump gas and make the donuts *SMACK*.

What draws us together on this board is our love of high performance automobiles, NOT how well we type or spell, or our educational background. Putting down others with these kind of discussions does NOTHING positive to contribute to this unity. Case in point: No one is going to start practicing spelling and typing as a result of this thread. So why bring it up?!
As I said before, lighten up!

Aha!... redeemed by the likes of Pro Stock John!!! I was (probably) reamed by Diesel because of an offer I made to donate proofreading skills in "PARTS FOR SALE" (see April 13,1:10PM "Cam Fur Sail"). My conscience made me write an apology to members (April 14, 08:06AM "Apology To All").
Now that I know others have their critical moments, I'm a takin' my apology back!

No one's dumping on anyone.
I think the main point is:

1. Take the time to spell keywords correctly.

and the 2nd:

2. Re-read your post to see if it makes sense before you post it.

Some people are not doing this, not because of a learning disablility, but because they are lazy.

Sometimes you know what you typed is wrong, but you post it anyway. That's laziness.

When I was a child and couldn't spell a word, my mom made me go to the dictionary. If your parents didn't make you do that, it's never too late. There IS no valid excuse for being totally inept at spelling if you can write at all. If it looks wrong, look it up.

The dictionary is only as far as www.dictionary.com. Type how you THINK it's spelled and it will give you alternatives most of the time, with the correct spelling you are looking for. Another thing to try, not for posting here, but for more important written communication, is to type your stuff in a word processor like MS Word. It will check your spelling AND grammar as you go. It will make a better writer out of you. Try it.

If someone misspells (I spelled that as "mispells" the first time around) grammar for grammer, that can be a mistake where it seems right. Pullies for pulleys may even seem write until you learn better. But, pulle? That was someone too lazy to read back over what they were about to post.

People who write a page of information without breaking it up into paragraphs are hurting themselves. When I see something like that, it just LOOKS too hard to read. You lose readers; all that typing, it must mean something to you. Make it presentable enough to give it a chance to mean something to others, too.

Get off the pity-party about what you can and can't do. You can do what you set out to do.

The bottom line is that if you can't spell, acknowledge that, don't be defensive, and just correct it with the 10,000 tools out there on the Internet. If you don't, you're just lazy. There certainly are people that cannot spell, and that's legitimate for those of us that were schooled in poorer areas, but there is NO excuse for someone that can post on the internet, and yet, not know how to use a utility that checks spelling and grammar.

Why lash out at people who know how to assemble a grammatically correct sentence, when all YOU need to do is take a few extra moments to check your education. That way, the rest of the Anglo-American speaking world can understand your point of view.

Think about that, BEFORE you act like a baboon... lashing out at the English-speaking world, that is.

We're all car people. We want to help one another. Just suck in your stinking, over-blown pride (if, indeed, you deserve to have pride) and admit you are English-impaired.

SC-

PS - This post was checked by MS Word spell-checker and grammar-checker. Thanks for asking...

I started the thread with a bit of humor, but people run a couple of hundred searches every HOUR... yup.

In this section we talk about pulley upgrades and issues all the time... I just want folks to work on spelling it right in the title of the topics.

I can't get the link to www.dictionery.com to work? Am I doing something wrong

Just goofing - I too have a thing about people spelling things correctly. But I'm too lazy to do a search, so it's not like I'm losing valuable data because of it.

Now where is my thesawrus at?

What drives me nuts is words like catback or cat back, or ypipe y pipe. Those can be a pain to search.
