Is there a difference between a wastegate and a BOV?

Is there a difference between a wastegate and a BOV?
I know its a simple question but is it the same thing or two different things and whats the difference?

completely different
Wastegate keeps your boost at a certain level by routing exhaust gasses to bypass the turbo.
BOV or blow off valve, releases the compressed air between the intake and engine when the throttle bladed closes, to prevent them from surging or slowing down the turbocharger.

Don't forget bypass valve, which routes intake air around the blower/turbo during part throttle driving, and acts like a BOV except the air stays in the intake track.
