mechanical vacuum/boost gauge guys step inside

I'm looking into mechanical boost/vacuum gauge for my WS6 since I am planning on getting a STS kit. I need a couple of things answered though.

1) What diameter is the nylon hose?
2) Has anyone put it in a triple a-pillar pod? Any fitment issues, or issues with running the vac line? There enough room back there to fit the hose without pinching it or kinking it?
3) Besides the hvac line in the back of the manifold, what else is a good line to tap into? I really cant get my giant hand behind the manifold.

I have an autometer 2 1/16 guage in my triple pillar it fits alright if you fit everyhing beforehand so the hose isnt kinked. I cant remember what size the hose is but I hooked into the vacumm line for the brake booster. Its kinda hard to find the fittings to go from the big vacum line on the booster to the small one on the guage. I found a plastic tee at a hardware store with 2 barbed fittings and one threaded end and a barbed fitting the size for the guage and female threads on the other end to match threads on the tee. this worked fine for me i'll try to get you a couple of pics if you need them let me know and ill try to get a couple.

The line is a 1/8". Its just slightly larger than the wiring. Not sure on the hookup though.

Here is a shot of a custom fitting that I made to tap into my brake booster line. Just used some 5/8 OD steel tube. 1 brass fitting used for bost gauge and other tap goes to the bypass valve.
