Default Long or short primaries on headers?

When building a turbo header for a large single set up what would be best.
Shorter or Longer tubes?

I don't see an advantage to longer tubes. It gives you more volume to fill which seems like it would increase lag? I know flow is important, but you also want to keep your exhaust gas velocity high... and I think more volume would work against that. You can have good flow without long primaries. More than anything, I think equal length into the collector would be most important on a good well-rounded setup. I think most guys go with the long-tube systems because they are easier to build and more well suited to the layout of most F-body turbo systems.

For a max-effort drag car, it may be different or I may have missed something.. so anyone else feel free to correct me!
