Without fuel system and a tune you really should not run any boost. If you tune it you might be able to run around 3-4psi before the fuel system gives up. My stock fuel system gave up around 380RWHP if I remember correctly.

I'm running 4 psi daily driving in my stock LS1. I run 8 at the track. I upgraded the fuel system in my car. I have 42# injectors with an upgraded Racetronix fuel pump. I also had my car tuned as well. With only running 5 psi, fuel injectors can wait for a little while but need to be upgraded as soon as you can. A fuel pump can wait also but I would not recommend running the sts kit at all without a tune. My car dynoed 413/430 at 4psi and 467/508 at 7psi.
Oh, one other thing I would recommend with upgrading your fuel system is new plugs and wires. My car did have some problems until I put new plugs in. You will need a colder plug. I'm running NGK T6 iridiums with a .28 gap.
