bs3 boost controller - any information?
1) Staged
2) PWM'd.
You can select one or the other. The 'Staged' approach switches various solenoids on that allow different amounts of air pressure on the top of the gate as a f(time). Requires a CO2 bottle and regulators, guys that use this are cars like Lynch&Petty, Taylor Laster, and Mike Moran.
The 'PWM' approach is similar to the Buick GN factory setup. A NC valve is used to bypass a certain percent of air to increase the boost pressure. It is a closed loop system and has programmable PID terms. You can log the wastegate DC% and see how well your hardware works. If the controller goes to either 0 or 100% and you still haven't met your desired boost, you can see there is something wrong with your setup. Hope this helps.
