Supercharger maintenance? changed my mind for the millionth time and got to wondering, i could have enough to pick-up a s/c by early summer, but had a few thaughts. trying to avoid an engine swap for about another year so how safe would it be on a stock bottom end + stock h/c with full bolt-ons and a s/c on 7-8 psi i figure that would be about 500 to the wheels, maybe a little more, would there be any longevity issues or do these s/c seem to last a while ( plan on going ATI ) how important are lower compression heads? or anything else i would have to change/upgrade in the future?

It should not have any thing to worry about. I have been pushing a good 8-9 psi for the last year with no problems. I can say that a GOOD tune is a must to keep things safe.
You will be right at the edge though with that PSI. A lot depends on how you treat it as well. I think I have been rather easy on mine, only down the track a few times. Basically a daily.

No problems with running 8 psi of boost with stock heads and cam. 42lb SVO fuel injectors, 255 litre in tank fuel pump, and a good tune are all that you need. I would go with the ATI ProCharger D-1SC, as it will allow you to crank up more boost in the future if you add a forged bottom end. Speaking of adding a forged bottom end, if you are thinking that may be in your future, then I would use 60lb injectors to begin with, so you don't waste any money on having to upgrade. The 60lb injectors are easy to tune, and will give you good part throttle driveability. Bob

what about a ls1 with 91k miles, its in very good shape, and i had planned on just going with the bolt on/cam route, but after seeing what a boosted ls1 can do with safe boost, im amazed... and now im looking into a procharger setup, does anybody have any higher milage boosted ls1's??? i could always start a new project and build a whole new motor setup for f/i, but thats alot of time/money know what im sayin
i'm boosting 4-5psi and i am putting down 440/405. I've got the p1sc, LT's, high flow cats, wide open borla, 60lb injectors, walbro 255 intank pump, and a1000 inline pump (turning on when there is boost). I had the car dyno tuned, and got my AFR perfect at 11.5-12.
As far as maintenance, it's kind of annoying having to do the oil changes on these units every 6k miles. the dip stick is very hard to get to. Also i've been hearing rattling & belt squeeks at idle after long drives. I've had the kit for like 30k miles now. I had to replace a blower pulley before, because the belt eats through it. I've noticed some wear on the new one already. I think this could be fixed with upgraded pulleys. But overall it works great.
If you buy the kits new i think ATI changed alot of things, so you might not experience any issues that i had.
