surge valve for p1sc Anybody know how to check and see if the surge valve for a procharger system is working. My car is running/idling rough; I've checked my vacuum hoses,electronics/sensors etc. I've also noticed on my vacuum/boost gauge that I've dropped from a 17 to a 12 reading ; any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.
Take it off, and hook up a Mity-Vac hand pump to it. They're only like $34 and worth buying. When you put more than about 5 inches of vacuum or 9.7PSI (14.7psi is sea level), it should be open, or have the piston retracted. Any vacuum lower than that, depending on the adjustment screw (which should start out fully backed out or per instructions) and the piston should be out or at least heading that way.
With ambient pressure or any boost, the piston should be fully extended.
My valve shaft needed a good greasing before it worked smoothly. May be worth checking. Just open the top where the diaphram is.
