317/ 6.0 head question
317/ 6.0 head question How much boost should a stock 317/Lq9 head be able to hold with Arp bolts and cometic headgaskets? I know the gm castings have a thinner deck (.375") compared to some of the aftermarket heads, AFR, Allpros, edelbrock ect. I want to be able to run atleast 15 psi and dont want to change the headgaskets everyday. So should the stock 317s hold up?
From the research I've done, they should hold up. From what I've read, to avoid the heads from lifting at all, you will probably want to use ARP studs rather than bolts. As far as the head gasket, I'm using a MLS gasket with 241 heads and haven't had problems at 9psi, and I plan to run 14 on them this spring.

Yeah Ive got studs
my bad. I was thinking about buying the older 6.0 cast iron heads. They should hold the boost.
