Serious question about STS Turbo.

Serious question about STS Turbo. I know this may sound dumb to most, but if it comes between asking a stupid question and dying, i choose stupid question. Being the turbo is mounted in the rear near the gas tank from what i heared, and there is only the heat shield protecting the gas tank, is there anything that can go wrong with turbo heating up the gas and the car would explode with me in it? I mean if hypethetically you get gas dripping down onto the hot turbo, will that start a fire or explosion?
Even if they is nothing wrong with the gas tank and just the fact that the turbo is near the gas tank, will anything or could anything happen bad?

You have nothing to worry about. Its in the same place as the exhaust system so thats the same thing. The turbo sits so far back from the motor it never builds up any excess heat. Hope this helps man.
dont worry about it I had my car dynoed with a 1/2 tanks of gas and my car had ALOT
dyno pulls done to it before it was getting closer to empty.
it was 100 degress ambient that day.
I think if something was gonna blow up or cause a problem
I think it would of at that time. when your driving there is allways
air flowing past the turbo it and it stays pretty cool.
I would have to say its doenst get much hotter than a exhaust system.
the turbos dont get hot like they do under the hood like a deisel truck
turbo would.

Thanks for the info. Of course i got dumb answers from the idiots at the Fbody.com board. I should have saw that coming. But i really do appreciate your help. Nothing matters more than safety i say.
As long as the heatshield is in place, you should be completely fine. I actually took my heatshield off to try and diagnose a rattle, and now I cant find the darned thing! But the pipes from the exhaust actually melted a notch into the gas tank despite there being a few inches clearance between the two! I ended up wrapping the pipes in header wrap to keep the heat in, but the wrap keeps tearing since the pipes flex so much. So if I havent blown up yet <knock on serious wood> then you should be fine. Though I do think about it happening, and im being a jackass for not having it taken care of.
