BOV. Does this sound right?
BOV. Does this sound right? I'm brand new to bov considering ever turbo car I've ever owned has been an automatic. Well, I bought one for my a4 z28 and before I had the BOV on the boost would bleed off through the wastegate. Last night, I was at WOT @ 5# and let off and I heard the BOV and the engine felt like it just fell on its ***. (which makes sense if I rationalize the fact that I just took all the boost out of the intake going to the engine.) If this is right, then I'm assuming this poses no harmful affect to the engine. Just felt weird so I was questioning if this is what's supposed to happen.

I believe you can adjust the bov so its not like a 100% dump of the boost. I know thats what by buddies has on his 04 MR EVo VIII. Its adjustable so you dont have to have a 100% atomsphere dump but rather can recirculate some of the boost. I dunno if this is the same case with an ls1 but it seems resonable that if your dumping 100% of the boost or near 100% of the boost the car is going to feel a little sluggish until the boost builds up again.
Where is the BOV mounted? If it is mounted after the MAF then the car is going extremely rich when you let off because the MAF has already read the air going into the motor. If the BOV is located before the MAF (where it should be) then you are probably just feeling the loss of power, which I think you would be used to having driven turbo cars in the past.
