Default Do you guys fuse your gauges?

I was just looking over Autometers install instruction and they reccomend fusing the hot. Just wondering if this is an optional step I can skip or if I should just do it.

It's always a good idea to fuse anything that you do electrical or put them on a line that is fused....If you put them on your accessory wire in your dash that is fused at your fuse block with like a 25-30amp fuse...I'm pretty sure it's an orange one but just get a volt meter and check it..Turn the key on and off and voila...You got your accessory wire...Hope this helps..Don't want you to burn your car down...Haha..

I would suggest to fuse the gauges as a separate circuit and not share the gauges to another fused car circuit. When I did mine I took juice from my HU and used the lighting dimming circuit also but added a fuse as the instructions say. It is there for a reason! The biggest problem was to find a 1AMP fuse!!! But I did it by the book and they are functioning flawlessly (for now at least!!)

I'm no worried so much about the hot wire for illumination, Im going to use the dimmer wire as you have. But, Im not so sure yet about which wire to use for the constant hot. Anyway, I guess Ill be fusing it. What kind of fuse/ holder did you use, just the Littlefuse they reccomend?

No I use one of those small fuse blocks for the glass fuses. Got it at Autozone. It has capacity for 6 fuses. Those fuses were the only ones I found to rated at 1AMP.
