hell i'm hoping to get the STS kit for my 01 trans am here in the next year(gotta save up some money)
I know with the stock pistons you have to be safe as hell as to not cause problems, I simply want to run 5# and I will have nick w. tune it if i get it, as i know it will be right then and will run ok.
how hard is it to replace the pistons? gotta tear the block apart and get to the innards right? ....might as well do some more replacing after that..

Sorry to hear about that. The good news is you will have a motor you can trust. No more worrying.
I thought I blew my motor a few months ago. It was way down on power so I dug into it and found suspicious scratches on cylinders 2, 7 and 8. I thought maybe the ring lands were cracked so I pulled it and yanked the pistons. It turned out to be lots of carbon build up around the rings from a bad turbo. A hone, re-ring and new head gaskets brought it back to life.

I had a BG top end service (some sort of solvent they run through the top end) not even 500 miles ago, right after having the oil going through the top end. Since I put the turbo on it has always had a percentage of oil blowing past the compressor seal and into the top end.
