forged pistons and rods or??????? starting to get things together to get boosted. I was wondering how much it would be for a shop to take my motor out, do the machine work and put in forged pistons and rods. Or should i just get a new shortblock. How much money if any would i save by forging what i have over getting a new short block?
Depends if the shop has a core charge for the block and crank.
It should be a wash either way as you can always sell off your old block and crank.
Figure $3,000 - $3,500 for a quality forged short block. Plus whatever labor charges you incur by having the motor pulled from your car.
