Default advantage of short stroke for FI?

i see a lot of the sponsors that build motors for boost will use a 4" bore and use a 3.625 stroke. is there an advantage to use a shorter stroke compared to using a full 4" stroke on a forced induction motor, and what is the advantage?

I believe typically people will run a shorter stroke so they can rev the engine higher.

Less stroke means less total up and down movement, so less chance for **** to break at any given higher rpm.

I could be completely wrong, but I think thats what Ive read.

The shorter stroke works great with centrifugal blowers. Since the boost is exponential to the RPMs, you can rev higher for more power without stressing the motor so much. However I dont see why someone would do that if you can just turn up the boost on longer strokes andnot rev so high. Im sure someone a lot smarter than me will step in.

it basically mean you get a great power band as you have more rpm to work with (aslong as you rev it harder). also they canbe made to rev 'quicker' than a long stroke neaning quicker spool on a turbo engine. also you can make more power thank to take the rpm band higher.

thanks Chris.

Old school wisdom was that f.i. engines work best when using the the longest stroke feasible.
