Default Largest turbo possible w/TTi kit without relocating radiator?

Just wondering what turbo everyone is running with their TTi "race" kit??? I am thinking about getting their hot parts kit and putting the rest together separately. Is anyone running the 80mm Innovative that they offer? It looks nice but seems overpriced. I guess most are running the T76 that comes with it.

I would like to know if a PT88 would fit. Jose seems to highly recommend it but don't know if it will fit. I have also been looking at the new Garrett GT4294R and GT4202R (aka GT42R and GT42RS). They both come in T4 exhaust housings but I believe are pretty big, maybe too big? I will be using 2 1/4" fans that should help. All require 4" DPs though also.

Does anyone make a 4" DP to fit the TTi kit? I think TTi's only goes up to 3.5".

Thanks!

ya, mightymouse is running the PTE88, but he fabbed up the crossover piece himself since the TTi wount fit it stock. he might have modifed his downpipe too. i think it only was a 3.5" then to 4" exhaust

Yeah I really want to make a PTE88 work. I don't however want to waste the money on the whole hot parts kit if I'm not going to use half of it. Not for $3K+ anyway. I guess I could call TTi and see if they will make a 4" DP. I wonder if the larger crossover is really 100% necessary? I mean I'm sure it helps but could I just get away with the 4" DP and leave the rest the way it comes?

Hopefully Mightymouse will chime in here...

I really like the BB GT42 series but how do they compare in size, especially exhaust housing, to a PT88??? I like the GT4202R which is the bigger GT42 but not sure if the exhaust side is big enough...would sure spool nice though...

I know the GT47s are way bigger then I need so maybe the GT42 would be a good option...

its not the size of the cross over MM had to mod, it was the location of the turbo that he had to fab his own.
getting a 4" pipe throught he kmember is a little tricky, it can be done with stock or poly mounts, me and other persion have done it, just takes alot of grinding.

if your gonna be doing all that stuff to the tti kit, then dont by the cross over and downpipe (just the headers and cold piping if that) and fab the rest yourself. or use 6.0 manfolds and fab up something like me.

I run the the TTi race kit with the 80mm Innovative. Take a look at MM's website and you'll be able to see the mods he did to make his own crossver for the PTE88 when he installed it. You'll find the links in his sig.

Thanks guys. Yeah I will likely just get the headers and DP if I can and maybe find a shop somewhere that can do the up pipes. There isn't alot of options in my area (western MD). There is an import shop near pittsburgh that does a ton of turbo work and they can make up the 3" cold side piping to/from the FMIC so maybe they can fab the up-pipes too. I've seen there work on nissan silvias and they do really nice work.

there isn't anybody with the race kit and a 4" downpipe, you would have to mod the tubular k severely and probably still need to ding the pipe in some spots.

if you dump the 3.5" i dont see you gaining anything over a 4" downpipe.
here's my work

also here you can see the outlet of the pte 88, the mating flange is about 4" but the actual wheel size is less than 3.75

i havent moved my stock radiator or stock fans.

Thanks MM for all the info. I think I will probably go with a PTE76 w/80mm upgrade and 3.5" DP option. I think it will fit fine and make enough power and is alot less expensive then the Innovative 80mm.

I would still however like to know how a GT4202R compares in size to a PTE76 and PTE88. The GT4202R can be had on a T4 flange.
Seems like a really nice BB turbo that can be had for under 2K.
