Default Procharger question

Why do I need to have a 450 dollar harmonic balancer to run the 8-rib D1SC kit? Part #ATI-917242. Some one please explain this to me.

yes, they only sell their 8 rib crank pulley to fit on an ATI damper.

The SDCE 8 rib pulley is two piece and can fit on the stock balancer or the ATI damper which was a pretty good idea I thought. Shame procharger doesnt do that but I guess they figure at the HP level you need an 8 rib its probably a good thing to have an SFI damper..

Thanks KP, I'm trying not to sound like a dumbass but what is an SDCE pully(ie where can I buy one)? Is it cheaper than the ATI balancer? Also what do you think is the better setup?

On a side note, I noticed you are from Knoxville. I am from Maryville, just stuck in Nebraska thanks to the Air Force.

The SDCE setup is a complete spring tensioner assembly, they use a different size offset and diameter then ATI does so it wont line up unless you do some shimming. Do a search here and you can find out everything you need..

Could be worst, you could be stuck where its like 300 degrees out

The ATI ProCharger eight rib crank pulley is designed to be bolted on using three bolts. The factory balancer does not have the bolt holes, which is why the new balancer is required.

The ATI ProCharger six rib crank pulley has three pins that fit into the slots on the factory balancer. These pins can sheer off at higher boost levels. Bob
