Default build help

Hi,
I have a question about what is the best setup for a street FI LS1 motor?
This is a street car. not an everyday driver.
99 SS camaro
vortec 9PSI. supercharger w/ aftercooler.
LS1 + 6 SP
I want to make 500 - 550 RWHP
If I take the stock motor and put forged pistons, say 10 - 10.5 :1 comp.
should I drop the compression or is that good?
What cam should I run?

Stock engine, get a blower cam, some good flowing heads, procharger DS1C, LT headers, and about 8 psi you should see 500 rwhp. If you pull the motor apart you should lower the compression either through dished pistons or a set of 6.0 liter heads. Also make sure to install some good rod bolts along with the forged pistons and you should be all set.

Can you explain why I need to drop the compression down for a supercharger?

Well if your going to run a stock engine with the stock compression the maximum amount fo boost you will be able to safely run on 93 pump gas is around 8 psi. Anything over that you will have to go with a meth/alky injection system, which can be troublesome. By lowering the compression you can add more boost, which will net you more power and allow you to still run pump gas.

10:1 forged pistons and a 224/230 cam on a 115 and 2.75 pulley. you'll need 42 lb injectors too. the trex with the stock pump should be fine.
i wouldn't drop more down than 9.5:1 compression, you can achieve that when you do ported heads later down the road.
