I voted for front mount... I am a rear mount supporter but you cant change the laws of physics. This still does not change the context of the original conversation. Stoleit: this is not a bash thread... it is a political spin thread from someone who cant be open minded to the performance differences of the two.

I never implied nor will anyone else that a rearmount will perform the same side by side with the same components as a front mount. Welcome to Physics 101.

I gave advice in not recommending an STS on the basis of its overall performance, not its simplistic qualities. You referred to my post as bashing and appealed to the authority of one in an attempt to change my understanding. That example was an exception to the trend. I gave my honest opinion based on evidentiary information provided by STS on their webpage. But I also have many positive things to say about the rear mount set up that has nothing to do with performance. Yes, you gave concessions toward the front mount design and arguments against the company’s character asserting “greed” was their primary motivation. However, I think you did so consciously without subconsciously realizing what you were really arguing for. This is not the Chinese internet where diametrically opposed opinions are silenced. I respect our sponsors and realize we owe them courtesy when engaging in critical discussions of the products “they market to us.” Just because they support our forum does not give them licentious action to shape public opinion by covering our eyes. If a group stops thinking for themselves and puts their heads in the sand, they are destined to accept the version of truth from those telling the story. I am actually not trying to spin this. I read and contribute to this forum to develop my knowledge and enhance my understanding. Like Bboyferal, I have an open mind and I welcome disinterested views on such issues.

For those who are wondering my true opinion it is this. I think the STS Turbo is an awesome idea and design. Inventors who implement their ideas as a product advance our hobby and therefore should be acknowledged, recognized, and thanked for their achievements and contributions. Rick Squires has helped by advancing such ideas so that performance enthusiasts like ourselves can enjoy yet another option on modifying their vehicle(s). He has “revolutionized” the typical turbo design by thinking outside the box and opening his mind to new possibilities. But a revolution always come back to the same thing but in a different form; remove the “r” and you have an “evolution.” This evolution of thought has prima-facially changed the results of the typical cause and effect of turbo application, that effect being a trade off in performance versus simplicity.

Agreed... It's an idea sprung from many LS1 owners who shy away or are discouraged from the complexities, granted, difficulties of keeping the car streetable and leaving an already busy engine bay not any more busier.

Funny, though... The phenomenon of the "diet soft drink" happens... some of the market wants to convince itself sometimes that flavor, what is traded in a diet soft drink, is somehow not... "No, it tastes just as good as regular Coke to me."

SOME people get this way... A FEW STS owners might feel this way because they feel they must justify their decision IN EVERY REGARD, i.e. their idea must be the best possible one in terms of performance, simplicity, etc.

Most STS owners know what they have though, a good set-up easy to jump into... Interestingly, though, many outgrow it and end up in a custom rear-mount they could have started from the outset of their financial efforts.

Longrange4u: You claimed BuiltLT1 posed one point of view as an overall opinion erroneously. However, later you say yourself, "Physics 101."

We all agree here! I just think the phrase about the response/power "sucks" used in the other thread got under your skin... Just a manner of speaking? Most STS people DO feel that spool, no matter which head unit, can be improved. Hence, many users remedy the matter with exhaust wrap etc. It's not a spin to me, Longrange4u. STS users want to increase their spool in many intsances enough to warrant a criticism of the system's design in this area... But we knew there had to be a trade-off somewhere. Cloudiness removed, we clearly understand this, just maybe a bit of "jumpiness?"

Well we need to talk then... Cuz I'm putting the MTI stealth II (reverse split) in my car to make it not so noticeable, and going back to manifolds (to help with spool also. Hit me up man, very interested in the hookup, especially since you're only 45 minutes north of me (going the speed limit!).

Hmmm... two things. First; the fact that I disagree with your statement that I was at some subconscious level I was defending STS (I love the innovation much like you) I was more defending the concept of rear mounts. I will also concede that the example I gave is the exception not the standard. I personally love that setup because it is completely custom, and I appreciate the engineering path of the more difficult vs: taking the easy route (I personally cannot afford to be an engineering rebel) thus spawning the evolution of thought that you speak of.

Second; I agree completely with your statement about censorship, and also agree with your (although somewhat spun ) assessment of my feelings about STS's interest in participating in the developmental stages of this sport.

So other than those differences of you say tomato... I say tomato.... I agree 100% with your comment.

Could very well be the case.... had a bad day today The god of turbo delay casts stones upon me. And yes... your assessment of what started me off on this is a good one.

I have and will always conceed that front mount is more efficent than rearmount. I dont need to defend my decisions... hell it would make a good funny story as to how I ended up being a rear mount turbo guy. I often offer advice to others looking to save a buck... who have no idea what pain comes with F/I of any kind. If I could reverse time... I would have gone front mount. But... I am still working on that skill.

No harm no foul... LS1Tech is a Forced Induction higher instutition of wisdom and learning for me. (God thats scary isnt it?!?)

The God of Turbo Delay casts stones upon us all.

*looking up, shaking fist in the air* No sacrifice has yet appeased him... I don't know what to do myself.... But my motor's done this week (I have all parts, too), and my car's going to Revxtreme this weekend... Considering the learning curve for us before, this should be pretty straightforward and fun I hope... Well, that is if the Turbo God allows for that.
