well they run true launch control! the ECU basically retards the ignition timing untill you hold constant revs (at a set rpm point). this means the charge is still burning when the exhaust vavle opens. sooo the turbo gets hit by nice hot, still exspanding, exhaust gasses! this means, with a high idle, you can make good boost on the line, better than a 2step!

also they run very agresive anti-lag (also known as bang bang) wich does the same but when you back off the throttle! this keeps the turbo from slowing down to much (if any) inbetween gears. but thats proberly not a problem with an auto!

also antilag and rutine turbos but as yours is going to be all the way at the back it wont be a problem!

Chris.

Antil lag > Whole turbos

"BANG" for real!

Rallying is such a hard test of every aspect of the car AND the driver... No sissy boys and cars there, indeed.

i recon it would work good oin an STS style setup though. the presure a normal anti-lag system puts on a turbo is to much unless you are a all out racer, or just want 6foot flames coming out your exhaust!! but with the turbo(s) all the way in the back the gas has time to cool a little and not be SOOOO hard on the turbo!

and yeah rally cars are the real guys! they have to fire up first time and all conditions! one rally they are in the snow and ice, the next in the desert! also what alot of people dont see is the hundreds and hundreds of road miles the cars have to do inbetween stages!

but if you have ever stood near one on the line as they launch, they are dam impresive!

thanks Chris.

I dont know of any F-Body's that are running a setup like what you have described... is there one out there? I think launching on my Trans Break with my 2-Step set just below the max the TQ Converter can handle will allow me to launch in boost (3-6lbs I am hoping for).... My 408 with 3-6lbs of boost should be plenty to hold onto... I would like to see 1.4 60's.

well rally cars are normally 2.0ltrs, so with 408cubic inch and a trans break and a 2step i recon you will be fine! but if you want more boost off the line look into it!

also, bit of a side note, i have just seen a 2.0ltr in sweeded using a T88 to make about 850bhp! so if one of thoes little things can spool that thing up you will have no problems! hehe

oh and what AR is the one you have??

thanks Chris

Yeah, and there are Supras that spool up big 100mm+ turbos with nitrous shots and still launch under boost... Yeah, we LS1ers are spoiled.

Yea man... just fighting with the god of turbo delay.

I am waiting on a backordered SFI Flexplate for my TH400 swap... and now looking for a 98 fuel tank I can sump (dont like the dual 255 in the 99+ setup, it will require that I drive around with a full tank all the time)

whats the smallest you can get a T88 in?? just thinking it might put less heat into the air than a T76. is that the right thinking???

thanks Chris.

Ummmm I dont think so... but I am not even sure I am following your thinking. What do you mean heat in the air? Like as in Underhood temps? You know that a hot turbo is a good turbo?

sorry i didn't exsplain myslef very well! i had had a drink when writing it!

what i was trying to say is bigger turbos gerneraly (well on smaller displacment, high boost cars) run cooler intake charges (ie after the intercooler) than the same setup but with a smaller turbo! now i dont know if it would have much effect at the presures LS guys run but thought it might make a diffrence!

i know running a T70 to 700rwhp can be done but cos you are way out side the efficenty of the turbo it puts a lot of heat into the air. does this apply (but the other way around) if you go bigger

thanks Chris.
