Default How do I hook up a manual boost controller...

it would be nice if you could draw the lines and T's.

or at least explain in detail so I can draw them and make sure I got it correct.

turbo has 1 port
wastegate has 2 ports
blow off valve has 2 ports
manual boost controller has 2 ports
and there is the vacuum line.

i will just leave my electronic boost controller Tee'd into the vacuum line so I can read the boost.

Im troubleshooting some possibilities..thanks for the help.

TTT

I'm curious about this as well. I have the same controller TurboXS High Perfomance Boost Controller (BC-HPBC).

The directions says that adjusting the coarse adjuster one full turn will yield 2-4psi increase. It seems to be more like .5 psi for every turn.

Anyhow, I have a boost source tapped right before my intake going into the controller, then to the wastegates side port. The top port is unconnected.

MBC is two lines. vac/boost source and line to wastegate. I wouldn't hang too much off that vac source and keep the lines as short as feasible. (ie use another vac source for your boost gauge, alky setup etc) Keep the MBC lines nice and clean.

bah..my mbc was fubared..even with the set screw all the way down the car still boosted 16.x psi. good thing I had race gas in there and the tune is good up there too.

now...i removed the MBC and I have no line going to the top of the WG and the everything is like the pic above except take out the MBC. So I am running off WG Spring only.

few issues. the springs in my Innovative Pro-Gate is suppose to have a 10psi. I have the set screw all the way down and it only netted 7.4psi.

any 1 know why this is?

here is a log file in excel of a few runs i did. http://flowerstechnology.net/Documents/wgonlynobc.xls

should my MAP kpa be bouncing around as much as it is?

all the way in...

for the MBC and WG

the MBC with the screw down I could still blow air through it

and

the WG it is screwed all the way down..so I should be getting more than 10psi as clamping it down makes the spring stiffer

the lowest i could ever go with that gate and spring and turbo was about 11.5psi

with the 88mm on the car it is rare to see a dip below 14psi

just make sure you got no leaks.

i would put your bov back the way it was just for starters, then a visual inspection of the intercooler and all couplings

Your MBC is probably fine, but not set up right. It's a bleed type value which bleeds extra pressure to the atmosphere:

http://www.turboxs.com/faq/turboxshigh.htm

The brass nipple goes to the pressure source. If you look closely at it, you can see an arrow engraved on it showing the direction of flow. The outlet (the blue nipple) goes to your wastegate actuator (the side port to your wastegate). The top port of the wastegate should be left open.

your FPR should be connected to a vacuum line from the intake manifold, behind the throttle body

Semi-hijack: When using a MBC, will the spring in your wastegate be the minimum amount of boost you can generate, or the maximum?
