Also note that why some people go to the LS2 block is that the 700rwhp+ cars that are driven often (5Kmiles+) seem to lose "ring seal" when using an LS1 block. Meaning every few thousand miles a hone and new rings were needed. I would suggest going with the LS2 block for piece of mind. 650rwhp is a walk in the park with a turbo and a V8.
Plenty of people making 1000rwhp with stock cranks, upgraded rods/pistons, ported 6.0 or AFR 225 heads, and stock LS6 intake with ported stock TB and big turbo. I want to build one someday as well.
