Look at Filter #1 and Filter #2 - the chrome piece at the bottom is the stock twin inter cooler

LOL - I didn't realize the filter covers the entire stock intercooler - Sorry, LSs1Power.

Interesting results with just the hat. I really dont know what happens, I had the hat and filter off my old SS with a P1SC and it picked up 40rwhp on the dyno. I was so happy and went right to the track, made a couple passes with it on and then pulled it off ready to be amazed - car ran no different.

This car I have taken it off several times trying to get a few lousy hundreths of a second in the 1/8 mile and the car has never picked up one tiny bit. I can swap pulleys and pick up a solid 2psi across the entire rpm range with the filter on, if it was that restrictive it should at least chop off some boost inthe higher rpm ranges with the smaller blower pulley you would think.

No one would like to pick up 50rwhp more then me by just taking the inlet hat off. I would like to see someone else try it with a consistant somewaht quick D1 car just to see if I'm crazy or not

i think people forget that only so much air can be pushed through a A2A ic with out it heating up to much.... also have to think about the burnout and staging process.... it does tend to build heat.... you can hook up on a dyno turn the car on and in 20 seconds be up to WOT and not have the IC heated up.... i think your one of the only ones to ever test this the right way...

one thing being you do have an extra filter on the intake hat... which helps im sure.... and the next thing is you probably have the D1sc right in its efficentcy range...

people always forget what matters most... track times....

You might want to go with an AEM Dryflow airfilter. The reason is that oiled airfilters channel dust and cause elevated ingress of dirt into the motor, especially in FI. If you did an oil analysis after running an oiled airfilter, and then changed the oil and put in a dryflow airfilter, and then ran another oil analysis, and compared the results, you will see what I mean.
