Default Boost Controller Hook Up????

what is the advantage or disadvantage of hooking up a boost controller and referencing from the manifold as compared to the turbo??? i bought the STS controller and it says to hook to the turbo, but i have read is several threads about referencing from manifold , what does that do for you.

boost spike in the turbo would keep the correct amount of boost from where you want it... in the manifold, right before the valves and closest the combustion chambers. The best place would be in the chamber itself but second best is the manifold.

boost controller tapped into the brake booster is basically manifold pressure.

There is a pressure drop from the turbo to the manifold, usually due to the IC. When boost is taken for the wastegate from the turbo's compressor cover, you will see less psi at the manifold. When boost is taken from the manifold for the wastegate you will see a few more psi at the manifold depending on how big the pressure drop is. Your best bet with a boost controller is to grab your boost reference from the turbo's compressor cover. It doesn't matter to to much either way. It's just the manifold source will give you a little more psi when just run off the wastegate without a boost controller installed. Grabbing your boost reference from the compressor cover will make the boost controller a little bit more accurate. Less Chances of spikes
