Be careful with Doxie's. They are famous for having back problems. No signs or anything, just all of a sudden on day they won't be able to stand up. So keep the weight down. If it's a mini don't let it get over 9 pounds. If it's a standard don't let it get over 15 pounds. They are a delicate breed.
True True. One of mine was on back medication and had severe pain. It's hard to watch them whimpering thru eating their food. He was in great shape too, not fat at all, ran all the time, never anything from the table. All better now.
