Default Boost and Gear selection?

Well with the car getting ready for a completely new setup I need to prepare here. Anyways I have an 04 GTO that I am currently doing a Solid Rear Axle Conversion on (yes in my garage). Stenod will be building the TT setup for the car as well as installing BS3. The car has a th400 and a 4400stall.

Quick rundown of the car:
408, 240cc ET heads, Custom Cam, Moser 9", TH400 (std. gearing), Twin Turbos (T70s or close to), Big Stuff 3, Plenty of fuel.

My intentions are to run a 28x12" tire on a 15x11" wheel. Yes it is going to be minitubbed!

The Moser 9" I bought has 3.50 gears in it and I am thinking I may need to swap them out. I would like to hear from the turbo guys on this. Which gears should I go with in the Moser 9". The car will be making 1200rwhp or so when it is complete. Though I intend to race the car at lower boost settings for atleast 6months.

So should I keep the 3.50s until I bump the boost up down the road or should I sell the 3.50 section I have and get some different gears?

I like my 2.75 gears. When I had my 3.50 gears it was impossible to hook and didn't spool well, sucked on the highway too.

You will probably push through the stall, 4400 is really loose on a turbo car. Mine stalls to 3000 n/a and 4000 on 10psi, 4500 on 15psi.

My stall was built around a Procharger setup. Yeah I am pretty certain I will be changing out the gears. Looks like I need to decide soon!

I'd start with the 3.50's, but you might end up swapping to 3.25's at some point.

How are you liking your new setup John? I can't wait to swap over to turbos and get my car back on the road. If I would have bought an Fbody I would probably already have it done... damn GTOs, everything has to be custom made.

Oh well

I like it, only one or two bugs getting addressed right now. I'm running a 28 slick and 3.50 gear.

Looks like PSJ already said what I was going to say...see how it goes with the 3.50s first. You're spending ridiculous money to turn your goat into a track monster...run the quarter and see where your rpms are at the traps. You may already be exactly where you need to be without spending any more money!
