Default question for EPP or someone good with cams

I'm trying to plan out a build and am a little hung up on the "magic stick" the short block is either going to be a 427ci or a warhawk/lsx tall deck 480ci, unported ls7 heads and intake, and an f-1a at 12-15psi 8-8.5:1cr

I really like this cam that epp has Ive seen some really good results, however I haven't seen how it performs in a motor with the displacement I plan to use.

Dur @ .050 232 int 240 exh

Lift .595 int .608 exh

Lobe Sep 115.0

This car is not a dd so street manners aren't a huge concern but it will get a little seat time every weekend. my goals are in the 750+ hp range with good torque down low. and a peak at no more than 6500 rpms

any help would be greatly apreciated, and thanks in advance

P.S. my post count may be low but I spend countless hours reading all the great info on this site 9 times out of ten I can find what I need with a search special thanks to all the regular tech guru's on here helping people learn whatever they need to know. my wife says I spend more time on this site than I do with her

We haven't tried our cam in a larger displacement engine such as the one you are planning on building. The larger displacement would certainly tame this camshaft down, and for the horsepower you are looking to achieve, this cam would work just fine. We get over 700 rwhp with the very mild Lingenfelter GT2-3, so you wouldn't have a problem.

If you're only going to run 12 to 15 psi with an F1A, I'd bump the compression ratio up to 9.0 to 9.5/1, if I were you. Centrifical superchargers can get away with a little more compression. Bob

I was thinking about a higher cr but when I get the itch for more power I can just change the pulley without having to worry about race gas. when I get comfortable with the power I will probably push it further. I wouild like to hit a 9.9 et with an m6 mini tubbed 29" slick

Bob,
I'm leaning towords the lsx block so buildup wouldn't start until that becomes available,
however could you give me a quote on your:
fmic setup
f1-a
other associated ati components
A duplicate of the fuel system you put on the white T/A From fuel tank bung to pressure reg.

Bob how would the GT2-3 work in a 402 with 225,s?
Would it be on the restrictive side?

With the 402, the gt2-3 would be on the small side. How much cam do you mind, little chop or factory idle?

Very small chop to factory idle is fine.
What was the cam you installed in the 757hp 402?

According to his site it looks like COMP 232/240 at .050 .595/.608 lift with a 115 lope separation

Im going through the same process trying to figure out the best cam for my setup.

The above cam has a lope to it, and has worked very well for us in both turbo and ATI ProCharger equipped vehicles. It will give your car a musclecar sound. Bob

Bob when you say you have not ran this cam in a large displacement such as the one he plans on building do you mean this cam is to large for a 347 and best used in a 408?
I have plans to order this cam and have not had a chance to call you and ask if this cam is to larger for my new 347 with a D1 setup?

Just a FYI I have been recommended a 242/242 .620 lift 115 centerline cam for my turbo setup. For a 402 LS2 with S-85 Turbo, about 8.5.1 CR. Dont know if this will help or not but was told this will be a bit lopey but not too ridiculous but great for Turbo FI.

This 347 C5 Corvette http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com...Car.php?car=26 was the first car we ran this camshaft in. We have also used this cam in many 347 ProCharger applications. Bob

I just built a Buick 482 stroker that had 620/595 with a 260/266 stick that was just about right. Seems like you're shooting low for your build, as Bob said.

I'd go higher since it's not a DD. Bump it up to the 280's @ .050 at least. You won't be disappointed in the power.

PS- Does ANYONE know the difference between "to" and "too"? Where did education fail????

I would like to go bigger but I'm just worried aboout the whole overlap issue anyone have a guideline on to much overlap for a supercharged setup, I would think that 260/266 would only work on something like a 118+ lsa

On a 482? The cubes are going to compensate, and some overlap is going to bring it into streetable. Are you running 116 and not telling that? Run in the 280s at .050 and a 110 LSA. The overlap will help the car run on the street and it won't harm the top end.
